WTCGP selects Jerry Sweeney, CEO of Brandywine Realty Trust, as 2016 Global Business Leadership Award Honoree

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) has selected Jerry Sweeney, CEO and Trustee, Brandywine Realty Trust to receive the 2016 Global Business Leadership Award.
The Global Business Leadership Award is given annually to individuals, organizations, or companies in recognition of their global vision and contribution to making Greater Philadelphia a world-class business destination. Through Mr. Sweeney’s leadership, Brandywine has become one of the largest, full-service, integrated real estate companies in the nation, with a market capitalization of approximately $5.0B. And, as Chairman of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, Mr. Sweeney is leading the charge to enhance and grow the Philadelphia port and its resources – a critical initiative for the WTCGP for advancing global trade in the Southeastern PA region. View Jerry Sweeney Bio

The award will be given to Jerry Sweeney at the World Trade Centers Day Annual Awards and Celebration, which will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the Independence Seaport Museum, 211 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia.

​Each year over 325 corporate, government, diplomatic and academic leaders gather to celebrate WTCGP honorees. Past recipients of the Global Business Leadership Award include former Pennsylvania Governors Tom Corbett and Ed Rendell; Rosemary Turner, UPS Regional President; Greg Bentley, CEO, Bentley Systems, Inc.; William Hunt, CEO,  AgustaWestland Philadelphia, and Philip Rinaldi, CEO,  Philadelphia Energy Solutions, among others.

In addition to the Global Business Leadership award, the WTCGP honors a “Member Company of the Year,” one each from New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Why the Annual Awards and Celebration?                      
After September 11, 2001, the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), in cooperation with the United Nations, chartered a day to be celebrated around the world as “World Trade Centers Day.” The 330 World Trade Centers worldwide organize activities ranging from conferences to dinners and other cultural and educational events to spread our message of peace and prosperity through trade.

PHILADELPHIA – Bank of America Merrill Lynch today announced that Deirdre McAleer has been appointed Business Banking market executive for Philadelphia.

With more than 25 years of commercial banking and management experience, McAleer will lead a team of client relationship managers to deliver strategic financial advice and solutions to help small to mid-sized companies in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities to grow, improve liquidity and cash flow, manage U.S. and international payments, and invest for the future.

Most recently, she served as senior vice president and senior client manager in Global Commercial Banking. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2003, she held client management roles at Wells Fargo Securities and CoreStates Bank, where she led teams to deliver commercial banking services to Philadelphia-area companies.

Active in the community, Deirdre currently serves on the corporate board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and previously served as an executive board member with the Pennsylvania Ballet.

She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Amherst College and an MBA from Villanova University. She is a graduate of Leadership Philadelphia, and was recently honored with appointment into the Bank of America Women’s Leadership Program. 

A resident of Philadelphia for more than 25 years, Deirdre and her family reside in Chestnut Hill.

The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) was recognized for its excellence by Secretary Dennis Davin and Deputy Secretary Wilfred Muskens, who accepted the 2015 President’s “E Star” Award on behalf of Governor Tom Wolf, for Export Service, presented to Pennsylvania’s Office of International Business Development. The ceremony was held at the U.S. Department of Commerce in recognition of Pennsylvania’s significant and sustained contribution to the increase of American exports. 

The WTCGP is one of the top producing Regional Export Network (REN) partners for the DCED’s Office of International Business Development. Since 2002, the WTCGP has assisted companies generate over $1.3 billion in export sales.  Linda Conlin, President of WTCGP accompanied Deputy Secretary Wilfred Muskens to the award ceremony.

November 12, 2014… Philadelphia, PA, As voted on November 6, 2014 at the annual Board of Directors meeting of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP), Gary P. Biehn, Partner and Chair, China Business Group and International Group of the Philadelphia, PA law firm, White and Williams, LLP, has been appointed Board Chairman of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia. Gary Biehn will replace Anthony S. Bartolomeo, P.E., President and CEO, of Pennoni, who had been Board Chairman of the WTCGP since 2004.

Gary Biehn has been a Board Member of the WTCGP since 2008 and served as Vice-Chairman of the board from 2012 through November 2014. As Vice-Chairman, Gary oversaw a number of key initiatives including most recently the development of the WTCGP’s three-year Strategic Plan (2015-2017).
