PHILADELPHIA – Bank of America Merrill Lynch today announced that Deirdre McAleer has been appointed Business Banking market executive for Philadelphia.

With more than 25 years of commercial banking and management experience, McAleer will lead a team of client relationship managers to deliver strategic financial advice and solutions to help small to mid-sized companies in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities to grow, improve liquidity and cash flow, manage U.S. and international payments, and invest for the future.

Most recently, she served as senior vice president and senior client manager in Global Commercial Banking. Prior to joining Bank of America in 2003, she held client management roles at Wells Fargo Securities and CoreStates Bank, where she led teams to deliver commercial banking services to Philadelphia-area companies.

Active in the community, Deirdre currently serves on the corporate board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and previously served as an executive board member with the Pennsylvania Ballet.

She holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Amherst College and an MBA from Villanova University. She is a graduate of Leadership Philadelphia, and was recently honored with appointment into the Bank of America Women’s Leadership Program. 

A resident of Philadelphia for more than 25 years, Deirdre and her family reside in Chestnut Hill.

Regional Exports Campaign Update

WTCGP recently participated in the Global Cities Initiative Exchange Workshop in Salt Lake City with the Economy League and the Philadelphia Office of the Economic Development Administration. The Economy League and WTCGP are currently targeting a metro export plan for the end of 2015.

World’s First Bilateral Hand Transplant on a Child Performed at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Surgeons at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) joined with colleagues from Penn Medicine recently to complete the world’s first bilateral hand transplant on a child. Earlier this month, the surgical team successfully transplanted donor hands and forearms onto 8-year-old Zion Harvey who, several years earlier, had undergone amputation of his hands and feet and a kidney transplant following a serious infection.
