A Metro Export Plan for Greater Philadelphia

Despite more than 80 percent of global GDP growth projected to occur outside the U.S. between 2013 and 2018, only five percent of American companies currently export and, among those that do, 58 percent export to only one market. These numbers underscore the significant opportunity for Greater Philadelphia and other U.S. metros to grow by going global.

During 2015, the Economy League and the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia brought together business leaders and economic development experts from across southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware to develop an action-oriented metro export plan for the region.

Join us on April 13 for the release of the Greater Philadelphia Metro Export Plan and a discussion with regional leaders on how its implementation will help drive much-needed job and revenue growth in our region.

Breakfast/Networking: 8:00 - 8:30AM

Mayor Jim Kenney made his first annual address to the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (on February 17th), where he took the time to list ways the city and local businesses are "already working together."

One of the initiatives Kenney addressed was that of developing international relations, including the hiring of a new Director of International Investment who will lead the recruitment of foreign businesses to Philadelphia.

The role will accompany a metro export plan geared toward boosting regional business growth.
