World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia Receives Certification at Geneva Assembly

Making overseas contacts is a vital part of expanding your business internationally. To that end, the WTCGP brought together more than 60 local companies with the Pennsylvania Overseas Representatives from 9 countries in more than 125 face-to-face meetings over a three-day period in September.

Initial meetings took place at the Ritz Carlton on Monday, September 20, 2004 as part of the "Bringing the World to PA" event; additional meetings occurred at the Chester County Economic Development Council in Exton, PA on Sept. 27 and the law offices of Obermayer, Rebmann, Maxwell, Hippel in Philadelphia, PA on Sept. 28

"This is the heart of doing business overseas," said Joanna Savvides, President of the WTCGP. "Making personal contact with knowledgeable, in-country representatives is often the first step in finding the right agent, distributor or partner overseas and the key to jumpstarting your international trade business."

The Pennsylvania export development program consists of 15 overseas offices that provide trade assistance services such as market intelligence; identification of overseas trading partners; in-country support when traveling to foreign markets; and support for in-country trade initiatives. Of the 15 offices, representatives were present from Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, Mexico, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia is the region's official representative for the Pennsylvania Office of International Business Development in the Department of Community and Economic Development.
