Gary Biehn, White and Williams LLP, and Bill Lasko, Lasko Products, Inc., discuss doing business in China
 |
On Tuesday, March 10th, the WTCGP’s CEOs' China Operations Club (COC) met at the law offices of White and Williams LLP for a roundtable discussion on conducting due diligence in China. The COC is open to “C” level executives of WTCGP corporate member companies that have current or planned operations in China.
Jim Curtis, executive director of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Shanghai office participated via conference call from China. Under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development's (DCED) export services program, the Shanghai office can provide Pennsylvania companies with their first line of information about potential business partners in China.
Gary Biehn, chair of the China Group, and Chunsheng (Tony) Lu of White and Williams LLP provided an overview of the differences in financial transparency, disclosure, indemnification claims and corporate structures between the U.S. and China and how these issues can affect a company’s Chinese operations.
With continued strong interest in China the meeting was well attended by both longtime and new COC members. For information on the China Operations Club or programs for Pennsylvania companies, please contact Ron Drozd, manager of export services, WTCGP, at 215-586-4240 ext. 122 or rdrozd@wtcphila.org.
