June 8, 2005: WTCGP Guests Join Worldwide Celebration

Hugh Long, Wachovia's State CEO for Pennsylvania and Delaware

World Trade Centers Day Dinner

Mr. Long will be presented with this award in recognition of his contributions to regional economic growth as well as Wachovia’s commitment to international trade. Since arriving in Philadelphia close to two years ago, the community has come to know Mr. Long as one of its strongest and most vocal advocates for regional economic development. Wachovia is one of the largest financial institutions in our region. Its International Department employs more than 1,000 individuals worldwide, with most of its senior management team based here in Philadelphia.

In addition, Mr. Fred Lam, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will be one of the evening’s special guests. The Council is preparing for its seminar “Hong Kong: Turning China Into Opportunity” on Thursday, June 9. For information visit http://www.tdctrade.com/usroadshow2005/philadelphia.htm

The WTCGP will again this year award several high school seniors from Philadelphia and Camden schools with a $1,000 scholarship each to the college of their choice. Students will be selected based on essays they submit on international trade and its impact on world peace and stability.
