"Insider's Tour" of South Jersey Port Corporation
SJPC specializes in handling breakbulk and bulk cargo including wood, steel products, cocoa beans, bananas, and pineapples. SJPC is currently the #1port in the USA importing plywood products that originate primarily from Brazil, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Also, SJPC has 35 tenants for whom it provides on-demand inventory control services for cargo in their warehouses or expert crane services at the terminal. As part of the tour, attendees observed the offloading from a Del Monte ship of fruit from Latin America. Del Monte's facility in the Port of Camden is their largest fruit port and distribution center in the world. In addition, the tour included the observation of a new multi-million dollar loading/unloading crane, a cement factory using recyclable slag from Italy, and the extensive wood product warehousing facilities. The SJPC presentations and tour were very informative and enabled attendees to better understand the opportunities for utlilizing the services of SJPC.
Given the vital importance of the port communities to international trade and global commerce, The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia was pleased to provide regional companies with the opportunity to observe a local port in action. The WTCGP is committed to supporting increased trade using the region's ports.
