Close to 300 Celebrate World Trade Centers Day Dinner

The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) hosted its third annual dinner program celebrating World Trade Centers Day on June 8th at the Wyndham Philadelphia at Franklin Plaza. This annual WTCGP event celebrates World Trade Centers Day, a day designated by the United Nations each year to recognize the significant contributions achieved by World Trade Centers around the globe as they honor peace, stability and economic development through trade.

Dinner guests were beckoned into the dining room by Chinese dragon dancers and drummers. Joanna Savvides, President of the WTCGP, welcomed the audience of close to 300 and noted that the size of the event grows each year as the region becomes more aware of the tremendous impact her organization is having on the local economy.

"Insider's Tour" of South Jersey Port Corporation, May 17

On May 17, the WTCGP organized a tour of the South Jersey Port Corp. (SJPC) in Camden, NJ. The seminar included a presentation on current activity at the SJPC provided by Jay Jones, Director of Communications, Administration & Information Systems and Hank D'Andrea, Facilities Engineer. Close to 20 people, including WTCGP members and other regional companies involved in importing and exporting, attended the morning’s breakfast and presentation which was followed by a tour of the Broadway and Beckett Street Terminals in Camden.

Half-day seminar on Export Management to be held at Rowan University, Aug 11

The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia, in partnership with the US Small Business Administration – NJ District Office, the New Jersey Small Business Development Center, Rowan University and Gatti & Associates, is pleased to present a half-day seminar entitled “Export Management: Business Development, Legal Issues & Finance.” Fulton Bank is the seminar’s sponsor.

Metal Edge International: Global Success Via the World Trade Center

Member Profile:
Founded in Philadelphia in 1978 and then moved to Montgomery County in 1982, Metal Edge International began as a small regional box manufacturer (Mefco) producing specialty packaging for the Philadelphia area as well as the greater northeast. In 1984, the company acquired the capability to produce a unique package and process called the Metal Edge Box and the ability to produce a serrated edge and place it on a box for dispensing rolled material (Foil, Film & Paper). With these very different but unique packaging products, Metal Edge began offering these products to the national and then the international marketplace. Metal Edge products are sold in 19 countries and, with the help of the WTCGP, the company is continuing to expand its global customer base.
