State of the Port Address and Luncheon
The who’s who of Philadelphia’s port community came together on October 14, 2005 to attend the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia’s fourth annual State of the Port Address & Luncheon. A crowd of over 200 people convened at the Hyatt Regency ~ Penn’s Landing to hear the following speakers:
John J. Matheussen, CEO, Delaware River Port Authority
James T. McDermott, Executive Director, Philadelphia Regional Port Authority
Jay Jones, Deputy Executive Director, South Jersey Port Corporation
Charles Isdell, Director of Aviation, Philadelphia International Airport
Hurricanes Sweep Away U.S. Exports in the Gulf Ports
Hurricane season cost the U.S. approximately a 15% decrease in exports through the Gulf region, reported the U.S. Census Bureau in its preliminary September 2005 Trade Release on Friday, October 21, 2005.
Villanova University hosts
WTCGP Breakfast Around the Region
Villanova University was the host for the WTCGP's October 2005 Breakfast Around the Region where Nina Covrljan, Vice President and International Trade Banking Consultant with Sovereign Bank’s Global Solutions Group, made a presentation entitled “International Trade: Assessing Country Risk.”
Nearly 50 students from regional colleges and universities submitted their applications for the WTCGP Spring 2006 Internship Program at the International Student Internship Fair on October 25, 2005. We expect to complete the intern selection process by the end of November and look forward to having new students join our team of professionals early January 2006.
WTCGP Launches ABPIS Program for International Students
The WTCGP is pleased to announce a new program called the "American Business Practices for International Students". The purpose of this program is to have
international students from Greater Philadelphia universities gain a better understanding of American international business practices in trade and prepare them for
success in global markets.
