WTCGP President Receives Global Leadership in Business Award

Honorable David Weiner, Consul of Canada, Vice President of the Consular Corps of Philadelphia, presents Joanna Savvides, WTCGP President, with the 2006 Global Leadership in Business Award

The Consular Corps Association of Philadelphia, the oldest association of foreign Consuls in the United States, encompasses representatives from 32 countries from around the globe: Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Finland, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Republic of Liberia, Madagascar, Mexico, Moldova, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Members of the organization promote trade, travel, investment and humanitarian assistance between their respective countries and local authorities.

At its annual award ceremony, the Consular Corps of Philadelphia recognizes preeminent individuals and institutions from the Greater Philadelphia area who have contributed significantly to a closer understanding of people from around the world. This year, nearly 200 people came together at the Annual Consular Gala at the Union League of Philadelphia to help raise funds for the Consular Corps’ educational programs and support three 2006 Leadership Awards Honorees.

The Honorable Oliver St. Clair Franklin, President and Chief Executive Officer, International House of Philadelphia, received the 2006 Global Leadership in Education Award. Joanna Savvides, WTCGP President, was presented with the 2006 Global Leadership in Business Award. Samuel Dalembert, Member of the Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Team, was recognized with the 2006 Global Leadership in Humanitarian Service Award.

The WTCGP applauds the Honorable Oliver St. Clair Franklin, Mr. Samuel Dalembert and our President Joanna Savvides for their efforts to promote global prosperity and friendly international relations.
