300 People Join Celebration of WTC Day in Philadelphia

Almost 300 guests, including prominent business, educational and international community leaders from the Greater Philadelphia region, as well as representatives of local businesses and non-profit organizations turned out for the WTC Day Dinner on June 1. With this celebration at the Union League, the WTCGP joined other World Trade Centers around the globe to demonstrate our unity and reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace and stability through trade.

After welcoming remarks by WTCGP President Joanna Savvides,

James B. Ginty, Chairman of our Board of Directors, reflected upon major accomplishments of the WTCGP in 2005. Mr. Ginty then recognized Manuel Stamatakis, who served as the Chairman of the WTCGP Board of Directors from 2002-2005.

After a brief Latin-inspired entertainment program performed by representatives of the Academy of Social Dance in Philadelphia, John J. Matheussen, CEO, DRPA, presented the 2006 New Jersey Member of the Year award to Dr. Wai Tak Law, President, PortaScience Inc.

Next Devon International Group was recognized with the 2006 Pennsylvania Member of the Year. C. R. "Chuck" Pennoni, Chairman, Pennoni Associates Inc. presented the award to Dr. John Bennett, Devon’s Chairman & CEO.

At the culmination of the evening program, Hugh C. Long, II, Pennsylvania and Delaware State CEO of Wachovia Bank, presented 2006 World Trade Centers Day Award to Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D. Mr. Baldino is Chairman & CEO of Cephalon Inc. - a biopharmaceutical company which has

grown from a group of pioneering young scientists to a company that promotes Greater Philadelphia area through its expanded international presence.
