PA and NJ Account For 6% of Total U.S. Exports

“Total July exports of $120.0 billion and imports of $188.0 billion resulted in a goods and services deficit of $68.0 billion,” announced the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis on September 12. A $3.2 billion increase in the U.S. trade deficit resulted from a $1.3 billion decrease in exports of goods and a $1.9 billion increase in imports of goods, slightly offset by a $0.2 billion decrease in imports of services.

New WTCGP Program Focuses on Emerging Markets

The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) is pleased to announce a new initiative, “Trade with Emerging Eastern European Markets,” aimed to increase the number of Philadelphia-area small to medium-sized companies participating in international trade in developing markets. “We are always seeking to create programs that introduce new markets and thus increase the opportunity for regional companies to participate in the global economy,” says Joanna Savvides, President, WTCGP. “We believe that our new program will serve the Greater Philadelphia region by creating jobs through international trade and fostering economic growth.”

WTCA Reciprocity at Work

Joanna Savvides, President of the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia, made two recent overseas visits to the World Trade Center Tokyo on August 7 and the World Trade Center Cyprus on September 8. In Japan, she met with Nobuo Nakaya, Managing Director and Secretary General, WTC Tokyo. In Cyprus, Mohsen Eftekhar, Real Estate Consultant, WTC Cyprus, and Mehran Eftekhar, Group Finance Director, Nest Group Companies, hosted her for meetings. In both countries, discussions involved the exchange of WTC-related experiences, ideas pertaining to different educational programs, new and innovative offerings to WTC members and clients. Furthermore, potential cooperation between WTCs for business match-making and trade mission opportunities were also addressed.
