Ten delegates from local Pennsylvania companies joined WTCGP on a ten-day trade mission to China and Hong Kong from September 17-27. The participants attended the World Trade Centers Association’s 36th General Assembly in Shanghai, hosted by WTC Shanghai September 20-23, 2005. Over 650 attendees took part in a wide range of briefings, work sessions, business meetings and cultural events. The participants included about 200 delegates from China and 425 from other countries. Of the total group, 37% were WTC delegates, 56% were trade mission delegates and 7% were accompanying persons. The General Assembly received extensive media exposure, with 21 local stations providing television coverage. WTCA President Guy Tozzoli reported that the Board had accepted the invitation of WTC Istanbul to host the 2006 WTCA General Assembly in that city, to begin on October 28.
Along with the General Assembly, the WTCGP trade mission delegates had a very active schedule of briefings and one-on-one business appointments with potential trading partners in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The participants not only met with local businessmen but they had an excellent opportunity to network with their colleagues from around the world during the General Assemby. Despite abundant business appointments, the WTCGP delegation found time to enjoy a few sightseeing highlights and visits to points of cultural interest.
Now that the trade mission has returned home, the WTCGP international trade specialists will work with the participants to assure success of their new and existing business ventures in Asia.
On behalf of all participants of our trade mission to China and Hong Kong, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia would like to thank the Pennsylvania Overseas Representatives, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the World Trade Center Shanghai, the Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing for their help in organizing briefings, one-on-one business appointments and the overall organization of our the trade mission.
