WTCGP Sixth Annual Dinner Celebration

After a hospitable and warm cocktail reception, Joanna Savvides, president of WTCGP, commenced the event by welcoming all sponsors and guests. She introduced Anthony S. Bartolomeo, P.E., president and CEO of Pennoni Associates Inc., and WTCGP chairman of the Board of Directors. He expressed his appreciation towards the WTCGP for their efforts to help small and medium-sized businesses in the Greater Philadelphia area to trade globally.
Gary P. Biehn Esq., a partner in, and chair of, the Business Department at White & Williams LLP, presented the 2008 Pennsylvania Business Member of the Year award to Burt, Hill. Ranked the 19th largest architecture practice in the world, Burt, Hill employs more than 850 professionals in 13 locations in the U.S., India and the U.A.E. Anton Germishuizen, AIA, principal of Burt, Hill, accepted the award and cited the firm’s commitment to a local presence, and its membership in the WTCGP’s International Design and Engineering Consortium, as key to their philosophy of “thinking globally and acting locally.”
The 2008 New Jersey Business Member of the Year awardee was announced by Richard R. Alaimo, P.E., chairman of Alaimo Group Consulting Engineers, who presented it to Stephen R. Drozdow, president of Wheaton Industries Inc. Wheaton Industries is a member of the WTCGP’s China Operations Club and currently has customers in over 35 countries worldwide.
Special recognition was given to James B. Ginty, senior vice president of Right Management Consultants, Inc. for his hard work, dedication and commitment to the WTCGP while serving as chairman from 2005 to 2007.
The celebration culminated with the WTCGP honoring two individuals as regional leaders in international business: Joseph A. Balzano, executive director and CEO of South Jersey Port Corporation, and James T. McDermott Jr., executive director of Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. The awards were presented by Michael J. Gabor, P.E., vice president, Marine Engineering Services Division at Urban Engineers, Inc. and Anthony S. Bartolomeo, P.E., president and CEO of Pennoni Associates, Inc. Both honorees remarked on the importance of the river in the area’s history and economic development and its transformation into, not only a major center for international commerce, but a cleaner waterway with residential and proposed casino developments along its shores.
