From January 1 through March 31, 2007, Pennsylvania goods exports amounted to $6.9 billion. The top five destinations for Pennsylvania exports were: Canada ($2,107 million); Mexico ($510 million); the United Kingdom ($359 million); Japan ($337 million) and Belgium ($322 million). Top exports from Pennsylvania were chemical manufactures - 19.4%; machinery manufactures - 13.7%; primary metal manufactures – 13.2%; computers and electronic products – 10.0%.
During the same period, New Jersey exported goods valued at $7.4 billion. The state’s top five trading partners during the first quarter of 2007 were: Canada ($1,469 million); Japan ($610 million); the United Kingdom ($509 million); Germany ($453 million) and Mexico ($390 million). The majority of New Jersey exports were chemical manufactures – 27.2%; primary metal manufactures – 13.0%; computers and electronics – 11.2%; and transportation equipment – 9.0%.
