Hana Stecova is a junior at Drexel University majoring in finance and international business with a minor in Spanish. As part of Drexel’s Co-op Program, Hana chose the World Trade Centerof Greater Philadelphia “to gain exposure to international business, learn first-hand about international trade, and try and relate the classes I took in school to the real world.” Hana was born in Trinec, Czech Republic, and came to the United States in 2000 to learn English. Since then, she successfully graduated from high school, was admitted to Drexel University and even made the Drexel Tennis team. “I’ve played tennis since I was three years old and it has become one of my greatest passions,” says Hana. Off-season, Hana enjoys traveling internationally and studying different languages. Hana’s knowledge of five languages (Czech, Slovakian, Polish, English and Spanish) makes her a valuable addition to the WTCGP team. After graduation from Drexel University, Hana plans to work for a year and then pursue a graduate degree in either international business or education.
Martin Soler has just finished his junior year at Temple University where he pursues a double major in Political Science and Economics.
Martin is
heavily involved in extra curricular activities. He is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Temple Economics Society, where he serves as Vice President of External Affairs. As a child, Martin moved often and has lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, Rockville, Maryland and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Despite these moves he remains very close to his native Uruguay where he grew up and where his family lives. Martin loves to play soccer in his spare time. He attributes his love for the sport to his upbringing in Uruguay where everyone is born with a soccer ball at their feet. When asked why he applied for an internship at the World Trade Center Martin replied: "I would like to gain more knowledge of how world trade works on a micro level because this is something that we are not taught at school. I am also interested in world trade because I feel that in this ever more globalized world, trade between nations can be very beneficial in the fight to reduce poverty and help small and medium businesses grow."
