CAFTA Trade Mission to Bring $2 Million in Export Sales

On September 23, 2006, WTCGP concluded a very successful trade mission to Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala. A total of ten companies participated in this intensive six-day trade mission organized under the auspices of our Latin American Trade Development Program. Representatives of seven local companies joined the WTCGP and three other Pennsylvania companies, who were not able to attend, took advantage of the special WTCGP offer to have our highly-experienced staff represent them at one-on-one business meetings.

Pennsylvania International Week Kicks Off in the City of Brotherly Love

One-on-one meetings at Pennsylvania International Week

For the third year in a row, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia organized the activities surrounding Pennsylvania International Week here in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania Authorized Trade Representatives began their tour of the Commonwealth at the historic Union League in Philadelphia. On September 28, 2006, executives of small and medium-sized companies met one-on-one with eighteen representatives from fifteen regions.

Market Grants Available for International Marketing Initiatives

Planning a sales trip to Bangalore? Exhibiting at a trade show in Dusseldorf? Need an interpreter in Beijing? The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia is now accepting applications for the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Center for Trade Development (CTD) Market Access Grant (MAG) to help qualifying Pennsylvania firms offset expenses associated with new international marketing initiatives. Up to $5,000 in matching funds are available.

New Airline Security Rules for EU to Take Effect in November

The European Union recently approved a new set of airline security rules to take effect in early November. According to new restrictions, the size of carry-on luggage will be limited to 56x45x25 cm. (approx. 22" x 17.7" x 9.8"). In addition, a passenger will be allowed to carry no more than 100 ml. (approx. 3.5 ounces) of liquid per container.  All liquid-bearing containers belonging to one passenger must fit into one sealable plastic bag with a cubic volume no larger than 1 liter (a little over one quart or 33.8 ounces).  These forthcoming changes were reported on September 27, 2006 by the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States.

We are pleased to welcome two new interns to the WTCGP team. Evangela Keares from Temple University and Lindsey Murray from Drexel University started their internships with the WTCGP in September. Evangela and Lindsey jumped right into the mix and rolled up their sleeves as they helped us coordinate and ensure the success of two signature WTCGP events held less than 24 hours apart, Philadelphia International Showcase and Pennsylvania International Week.
