“For the first time in the last few years, Russian trade balance with the U.S. has turned negative,” reported the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation on May 8, 2008. According to the data released by the Russian Federal Customs Service, the U.S. trade surplus with Russia reached $1.29 billion in 2007 - the much-awaited comeback into the positive territory, following a $3.43 billion trade deficit peak in 2004. Even though, the U.S. statistical sources still report a trade deficit, both countries agree that the U.S. exports grew by impressive 17.1% to $17.26 billion in 2007. To build on this trend, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia, in cooperation with the PA DCED, U.S. Commercial Services, WTC Moscow and the Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business Council, is taking local companies on a trade mission to Russia from June 22-26, 2008.
If your Pennsylvania company is interested in exploring business opportunities in Russia, please contact Andrea Townrow, coordinator of the WTCGP Eastern European Emerging Market program, at 215-586-4240 x123.
