Chairman Hochberg of the Export-Import Bank to Speak at Global Business Conference 2011

PHILADELPHIA –The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) is honored to have Fred. P Hochberg, Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States as the luncheon keynote speaker for the 8th annual Global Business Conference. The conference will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This year’s conference, Achieving the National Export Initiative – Tools for Success in Global Markets will give an outlook on global market trends and provide an update on the National Export Initiative since its implementation in 2010. In addition, attendees will learn practical tools to increase export sales.

As a leading member of the President's Export Promotion Cabinet, Chairman Hochberg's keynote address will provide an update on how the National Export Initiative directly benefits U.S. exporting companies, in particular, small- and medium-sized businesses. The conference is also part of the Export-Import Bank’s new Global Access for Small Business (Global Access) Initiative and is one of the first in a series of forums designed to inform small businesses about export opportunities.

“For our economy to grow, we need more American small businesses to become exporters,” stated Hochberg. “The demand exists for their products and services, but many companies are wary of international sales. Global Access provides financing tools to minimize the risk of exporting so more American small businesses can grow their companies and create new jobs.”

The conference will begin with a global update from several notable speakers. Mark Zandi, Chief Economist for Moody’s Analytics will present “Headwinds Fade, Tailwinds Build”. His global outlook will provide insight on domestic trends, the European debt crisis, and whether or not China and emerging markets will be able to soft-land their economies. Deborah Wince-Smith, President and CEO for the Council on Competitiveness will focus on opportunities for innovative and global market success.

In addition, to policy and market updates, attendees will hear from experts with practical tools to increase global sales. At the conference, The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia will be launching a new educational website that will help businesses learn exporting basics. The Pennsylvania International Trade Guide provides video lessons, answers to frequently asked questions, a state-wide event calendar and easy access to the Regional Export Network experts designated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Center for Trade Development to assist Pennsylvania companies.

“This one-day conference is a unique opportunity to hear directly from government leaders responsible for achieving the National Export Initiative, as well as business leaders who have increased sales and created jobs through exporting, and to learn about new resources that will help you hit the ground running in your own company,” stated Linda Mysliwy Conlin, President of The World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia.

Myriam Siftar, President of MTM LinguaSoft will provide tips for how to optimize your web presence for international sales. Donald Wirth, Vice President – Global Operations, Corporate Supply Chains for DuPont will provide a case-study on how DuPont has shifted their thinking on how to deliver technology and products to global customers.

The event represents an important opportunity for area companies to learn about global market trends, receive an update on the President’s National Export Initiative, and gain practical tools to grow global sales. Register online or by phone 215-586-4240.

Sponsorship opportunities and exhibit tables are available for companies interested in promoting their services to international business leaders and attendees.
