NavPac Pennsylvania China Conference targets commercial growth between Philadelphia, PA region and China
The 2016 NavPac Pennsylvania China Conference, Unleashing Opportunity: Connecting the Ben Franklin Bridge to the Great Wall, held in early August at the Union League in Center City Philadelphia, was organized in collaboration with the China General Chamber of Commerce-U.S.A. (CGCC), the largest organization of its kind in China. Ambassador Zhang Qiyue, Consul General of China in New York, joined DCED Secretary Denis Davin and senior China and Pennsylvania government and business leaders in discussing best opportunities to expand commercial ties between the Pennsylvania region and China.
China remains one of the largest U.S. trading partners, and stands as the fourth largest export market for both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. A platform for discussion and forging valuable connections with senior government and business leaders in China, the NavPac Pennsylvania China Conference represents one of many recent collaborative efforts by local and international agencies to expand business and job opportunities, and to strengthen the region's recognition as a hub for global trade and investment.
Our hope is to get the Chinese business leaders, as well as the local business leaders, to get together to get to know each other more. So from that friendship and good understanding, we hope that some projects of cooperation can be born.
Conference attendees included a number of representatives of leading business and financial sectors from China, Pennsylvania-based trade and investment agencies, local businesses and educational institutions.
