As I begin my third year as WTCGP President, I am very proud of our mission and what we have been able to accomplish on behalf of our member companies and for the region as a whole. For nearly a decade, the WTCGP has provided a world-class portfolio of international trade services and key global connections to help the region’s companies succeed in global markets, expanding the economic growth of the region as a whole. During this time, we have helped companies generate over $571 million in incremental export sales, generating over 7,400 new jobs for the region.

How did we do this? The WTCGP provides one-on-one counseling to its small- and medium-sized client companies, helping them to identify market opportunities and forge market entry strategies to seize those opportunities. More than this, we are committed to innovative programs that respond to the changing dynamic of the global marketplace and reaffirm the position of the WTCGP as the preeminent provider of international trade services in the Greater Philadelphia region.

Let me share a few examples. Recognizing the importance of capital to fuel international sales, particularly in a tight credit environment, the WTCGP developed its Export Finance Initiative which brings together the WTCGP and the Federal Government, along with the area’s leading trade finance lenders, the State, and the City of Philadelphia to make certain that companies have access to critical financing tools and global banking services to support their international business. Some of our programs such as the CEOs’ China Operations Club offer participating businesses a relaxed yet informative format to exchange best practices, market insight, and to learn from one another. Other programs such as the International Design and Engineering Consortium, Job Creation through Export Development Program, and Export for Scholars, are designed to develop winning global strategies for companies in leading sectors such as engineering or high technology, or prepare future generations of university students to be global business professionals.

We will continue to adapt to meet the needs of our clients, partners and constituents within this framework of economic growth through trade, with the following strategic priorities:

• Deliver diverse and quality programs and services to meet the needs of our membership;
• Strengthen old and forge new partnerships on a local, regional, national and international level to leverage talent and resources; and
• Serve as a catalyst for regional economic growth and job creation by advancing the global competitiveness of the region’s leading assets and sectors.
