Numonics Corporation Successfully Pursues Global Markets
Member Profile
Numonics Corporation of Montgomeryville, PA, has been designing, manufacturing, and marketing precision measurement devices since 1969. Gradually the company has become a leader in developing digitizing tablets for a variety of data input needs in the CAD/CAM, GIS, construction, textile and garment, medical imaging, and teleconferencing markets. Identifying new market opportunities for its core technology, Numonics entered the fast growing collaborative communications market by introducing its interactive presentation products in 1994. Numonics now manufactures interactive whiteboard products for use in the education, training, presentation and conferencing markets.
The Experience

Al Basilicato, Numonics' President, realized early on that international markets held significant sales potential. Thus the company has been actively pursuing global markets through the utilization of resources, such as the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and the State of PA Overseas trade offices. Numonics extensively relied on market research to gain an understanding of market requirements, competitive pricing and country-specific buyer habits. Realizing the need to physically be "on the ground" in the overseas market, the company actively used trade missions and trade shows to help them evaluate market timing and actual market entry. Recently, with the help of the WTCGP and PA Trade Representative in China, the company gained reseller partners and obtained an important jump in Chinese market penetration. Mr. Basilicato is passionate about exploring other markets and is participating in the WTCGP Latin American Trade Development Program.
