Metallurgical Products Company is one of the world’s leading sources for phosphor copper, copper anodes, copper-base master alloys, and specialty metals. Located in West Chester, PA, the company markets both domestically and internationally to copper tube manufacturers, brazing rod manufacturers, brass mills, foundries, copper powder manufacturers and to other manufacturers of products that are produced by melting copper and brass.
Since 1990, when Michael H. Goodman became the President of Metallurgical Products Company, founded by his grandfather eighty years earlier, the company has significantly widened its product line and expanded sales both in the U.S. and abroad.
In business for 95 years, Metallurgical is entering new territories thanks to assistance from the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Office of International Business Development. The company's first priority was to develop more Chinese phosphorus suppliers. The WTCGP helped Metallurgical identify the right resources and coached Goodman on how to do business with the Chinese so that he could develop the relationship at a quicker pace and obtain the most competitive pricing. Interested in other areas of Asia, Goodman also participated in a Pennsylvania trade mission to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand where he was introduced to prospective overseas customers. As a result of this successful mission, Metallurgical came home with an order from Singapore as well as commitments for trial shipments from three other companies. With the support of the WTCGP and Pennsylvania’s program Metallurgical has grown its business to over 40% export sales.
