Immunicon Finds a Collaborator in Japan
Member Profile

Immunicon Corporation, Huntingdon Valley, PA is developing and commercializing diagnostic and research products for rare cell analysis and molecular research, with an initial focus on cancer. Immunicon’s instruments and reagents are used to capture, count and characterize rare cells including circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in cancer patients or circulating endothelial cells (CECs), which are elevated in a variety of diseases. The company's goal is to be the leader in the development and commercialization of specialized cellular analysis products that deliver high clinical impact for use in human diagnostics, life science research and pharmaceutical development

The Experience

In 2005 Immunicon Corporation was supported by the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania Authorized Trade Representative for the company’s visit to Japan. Advance preparation provided cultural knowledge on doing business in Japan, logistics preparation and setting business meetings with prospective partners. The meetings were very positive and set the foundation for future collaborations. As a direct result of that visit, Eisai Company, Ltd became a collaborator of Immunicon. Immunicon indicated: "We were particularly pleased with the efforts of the State of Pennsylvania Japan Authorized Trade Office and the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia."
