WTCGP Quarterly Briefing “Your International Marketing Plan”- November 15, 2007
Trading internationally can be extremely profitable for the U.S. businesses. But to be successful company executives have to pay particular attention to many small, frequently overlooked details that are essential to an efficient partnership overseas. Our last Quarterly Briefing of 2007, held at the Plymouth Country Club, featured guest speakers who shared their expertise of how to develop and implement an effective global marketing plan.
Dino Ramos, director of trade services for the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia, began the seminar with an introduction to foreign trade and the many significant decisions that need to be made upon beginning an affiliation with an overseas company. Michael Ford, vice president of BDP International, spoke about the future developments of global logistics and technology. Wachovia’s director of Northern markets and global trade services, Glen Dooley, followed with his presentation which revolved around the relationship between importers and exporters, and the various methods of payment for export sales.
Next, Myriam Siftar, president of MTM Linguasoft, applied cultural lessons to the electronic technology usage for international communication. Finally, Stacey Johnson, an attorney for Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, spoke about the importance of trademarks for both domestic and international companies; while her colleague, Jamie Bischoff, stressed the magnitude of trademark infringement.
